I first added two borders in purple. The lighter border is the wrong side of the purple. I didn't plan that when I bought the fabric but I noticed that it matched the fabric better. I then used the right side to add contrast. I then added one more border in orange. Now I must decide how to quilt it. I like how this is turning out so far.
What can be better, than sharing the journey.

I cut stripe fabric into 10 inch or so strips. Layered them to be exactly over each other. Next I cut them into 10 inch squares. I stacked them about 8 deep and cut corner to corner. Hard to describe the next step but basically took the on point pieces sewed them into a square. The other triangles with a horizontal edge each become a set of squares.

No pictures to go with this one. I needed a tape recording. I heard all my china and glassing ringing as they rattled in the china cabinet. It took me just a second to realize what was happening. I did worry that the cabinets would fall over if it kept up and got any stronger. Was really surprised to find out the quake was about 150 miles away near Richmond. I have always wondered what it felt like in a quake and this was pretty minimal but my curiosity is over. Don't want any more of the same.
